We spent a couple of days wandering around the city either by walking or by hop-on hop-off transportation. We had a mix of good weather and rain. The cafe scene is strong in Bologna as elsewhere in Italy. This cafe is right next to where we are staying as well as the Neptune statue.
We saw lots of students in cafes around the university. The university area is huge.
Last night the whole area around our hotel and piazza was hoping. We had a good dinner at an area of food shops very close to where we are staying.
Restaurants were pretty crowded everywhere, even in alley ways.
Today we took the hop-on hop-off bus to the Modern Art Museum. Along the way we saw some of the greener parts of town.
There was nothing too spectacular at the museum, but we liked a few pieces like this one and also a Keith Haring.
It started pouring rain when we were in the museum and we couldn't get a cab back. We decided to walk and what was amazing is that we basically were under porticos for the mile and a third back. There are 25 miles of porticos in Bologna and they certainly came in handy today.
