It was another glorious day in Venice. The weather is so beautiful. We bought 48-hour water bus tickets so we are floating everywhere. The canals are stunning.
We went to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. We'd been there last year, but just loved the art. This guy was in the garden.
It's hard to pick a few pieces to put on the blog. Here's a Kandinsky and a de Kooning.
We went to the Gallery Academica to see a piece we had read about in the New York Times. In the mid 1500s, Giorgio Vasari was commissioned to paint a 9 panel ceiling for some rich dude. A few centuries later after all of his relatives died out, the ceiling was taken apart and pieces were sold throughout Europe. For over 40 years directors of Academica have been working to find all the pieces. At this point, 3 panels are still missing. Some of the panels were cut into multiple pieces to be sold. It's a miracle they've collected as much of it as they have. Here's the NYTs article.
This guy was in one of the galleries. Love it!
We then jumped on a vaporetto and spen the late afternoon on the water.
Bella Venezia!
