Earlier in the week we were at the Arsenale for the Venice Art Biennale. Today we went to another big site--Il Giardino. There is so much to see it's impossible in one day.
Here are a few examples of what we experienced. The French Pavilion (artist Julien Creuzet) created an installation using a combo of yarn sculptures, video, and music. It was like an underwater party. It was inspired by the Caribbean diaspora.
The USA Pavilion was spectacular. I was so proud. The artist was a member of the Choctaw Nation, Jefferey Gibson. His work was political, protest art, patriotic, and beautiful. Amazing.
As if we didn't see enough art for one day, we rode the canals to Ca' Pesaro, the National Gallery of Modern Art.
It's right on the Grand Canal and before we went in, we had coffee in this lovely cafe overlooking the water.
There were a few international pieces like this Kandinsky, but it was really nice learning about modern Italian artists I had never heard of.
This one is by Antonio Donghi
And this by Armando Pizzinato.
We went to Lido Island and had dinner and a beautiful sunset,
